MESSIAH COLLEGE CONCERT CHOIR
AND CHAMBER SINGERS TO PRESENT LOCAL CONCERT
The Messiah College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers, Dr. Joy Meade, conductor, will present a concert of sacred and secular music at Faith Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.
The choir’s 2019 tour, March 20-25, will take the 45 member group to churches and schools in Florida. CDs will be available for purchase, including the ensemble’s newest release, “Music Down in My Soul”. The tour will officially conclude on March 31st, when the choir presents its home campus concert in Parmer Hall, in the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts at Messiah College.
The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform a program titled So Loved. The repertoire of both sacred and secular works spans a variety of musical styles and narrates many ways that God has revealed his love to the world. Selections include traditional hymns, Lotti’s Crucifixus, Davies’ Songs from the Ark, Gibb’s spiritual arrangement Ain’t a that Good News, Brahms quartets, Beatles tunes, bluegrass and more.
About the Messiah College Concert Choir
The Messiah College Concert Choir is the premier vocal ensemble of the Department of Music at Messiah College and has enjoyed critical acclaim as a result of their performances and recordings. Student participants are chosen annually through competitive auditions from various academic majors and represent a cross-section of the Messiah College community. The choir has toured extensively in the United States, as well as Ireland, Austria, the Czech Republic, and Italy. In addition to campus and community concerts, the Messiah College Concert Choir frequently performs with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra as part of their Masterworks Series. The Concert Choir maintains an active recording schedule, producing a new album every year. They have been the featured choir for Kalmus Publications and Mark Foster Publications on their internationally distributed compact discs. The choir is under the direction of Dr. Joy Meade, Director of Choral Activities at Messiah College.
