Bethlehem Haitian Lutheran Church & Christian Mission Restore Haiti CMRH

Immokalee, Florida

The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod began work in Haiti in 1978 when LCMS mission societies began assisting Lutherans in Haiti.  In 1987, the LCMS supported mercy work in Haiti with a grant that aided a children’s project. Since then, grants have assisted in funding schools and children’s programs, health care and food assistance efforts.  One of those groups continues to the present day.  That group, Christian Mission Restore Haiti (CMRH),  continues as a Christian mission to work in Collier County in support of the first Christian Restoration of north Haiti which is an accredited religious organization by the Haitian government and was founded by pastor Andre Mezilus.  Pastor Mezilus went on to serve at Bethlehem Haitian Lutheran Church in Immokalee, Fl and has recently focused his efforts to the Haitian community while the Rev. Saint-Luc Charelus now serves as sole pastor at Bethlehem  Lutheran  Church (May 2026) with pastor Andre Mezilus assisting as needed.  Both groups have a common goal of working with the LCMS and with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Haiti (ELCH) to share the transforming message of Jesus Christ  through words and actions.
