God’s Work – Our Hands
02.01.26 | The Shepherd's Voice | by Don Treglown
As members, friends, and guests of Faith Lutheran Church, we try to constantly be aware of God’s grace and show our gratitude for this grace through our actions. While researching and preparing the weekly Bible Study of 1st & 2nd Peter, I came across a Bible verse that sums up what we try to accomplish at Faith:
1 Peter 4:10 states: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” This verse reminds us how important it is to utilize each of our unique gifts to serve one another and highlights for me the concept of stewardship in the context of God’s grace. Each one of us here connected at Faith is to actively contribute to the community by using our talents for the benefits of others.
In response to God’s love, we get to put our faith into action, which leads to enriching lives – both our own and the lives of others.
Here are just a few of the many ways we’ve worked together to serve others and live out our Christian faith.
Throughout the past year, our members have been involved in supporting the Avow Hospice, St. Matthew’s House, Grace Place, Amigos en Christo, Faith in Action Troop Care Packages, and Homeless Veterans. We also have touched the world with mission efforts in Indonesia through the ministry of the Nelson family, Bibles for the World, and in the Philippines working with the Seminary in Baguio City.
I have seen members living their faith in service to others in our Faith Disaster Relief programs, Matty’s Corner, and several donations given to assist in Immokolee. We were also blessed by our young people attending the National Youth Gathering.
These are just a few of the many examples that demonstrate that the people of Faith want to go beyond just talk and strive to live our faith and enrich lives within our congregation, our community, and our world.
Let this February 2026 be a time where we continue to demonstrate God’s caring spirit every day. We can and do volunteer. We can support our Missions of the Month. We can get involved. Whether its donating a can of soup on Souper Bowl Sunday, learning about Beverly’s Angels Ministry, sending Troop Care Packages, assisting the homeless of our community, or raising funds for disaster relief goods, we help our neighbors in need.
As Christians, let us show that in Christ we care about others and strive to share God’s love with all people!
