Lent: Come to the Water

“And now, why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on His name.” Acts 22:16
Southwest Florida is seeing record-breaking numbers as vacationers come to see the beauty, enjoy the weather, and the freedom of being outside. One of our biggest attractions are the beaches and water activities. Did you know that 1.5 million people came to visit Collier County in 2021. Almost all of them took a dip in the ocean.
We invite vacationers as well as year round residents to worship with us this Lenten Season. Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022, starts off the season when we reflect on the meaning of Jesus’ death and resurrection. At the start, we begin with the imposition of ashes – when you receive ashes in the sign of the cross on your forehead or hand.
Similarly, in baptism, you received the sign of the cross on your head, lips, and heart.
This Lent we will focus on the Sacrament of Baptism called “Come to the Water”. What makes this year so special is when “water comprehended in God’s Command and connected with God’s Word” brings with it a beauty, a sense of peace, and above all freedom. Just like people have been seeking for in Collier County for years.
We will only wait a short time, but will rise and remember our baptisms. The moment our sins were forgiven. That makes Lent such a great time to “Call On The Name of the Lord Jesus”
Looking forward to focus on God’s Word and highlight the time of confession and God’s forgiveness through this Lenten Midweek series.
Come to the Water!
