Women of Faith September 2024

    Dear Church Family

The Women of Faith hope you have been enjoying the summer.  We are looking forward to our 2024-2025 session, and have a few updates we would like to share.

---Thank you for your generous donations for the Avalon Elementary School supply list!  We delivered the supplies on August 8th.  The staff was very appreciative and thankful on behalf of the students.  We are so blessed to help these children start the new school year.

---We had our Long Range Planning meeting and breakfast on Saturday August 24th.  Our planning included our Fall Bazaar, WOF Christmas Party, the WOF Spring Tea and mission projects.  We encourage all women of Faith Lutheran Church to join us for these events and our monthly meetings.  Our meetings are the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 5:00pm and are held in the Discipleship Room.  We are happy to announce that Susan Chambers will be taking over kitchen duties.  Susan will be excellent in this position.  We will always be available to offer assistance as the kitchen is a very busy place.

---LWML Convention  Pam DiSarro - The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League Convention will be held in Orlando on September 13-15 2024.  Pam Di Sarro  & Chris Paganes will be our delegates from Women of Faith.  The convention’s Servant Event will sponsor The Orlando Union Rescue Mission. This organization helps equip the homeless for long-term independence and self-sufficiency built on their relationship with Jesus Christ.  If the Spirit moves you to donate to this cause, a purple bin is located in the hallway under the LWML table with a list of needed items.  Pam will deliver these donations.

---From Itchin’ to Stitch  Chris Paganes - Our group of dedicated ladies continue to meet every 1st, 3rd Wednesday of each month. (and 5th Wednesday as it occurs).   In addition to our shipment of handmade items to the LWML Orphan Grain Train in February, we just shipped an additional 100 handmade adorable dresses to the Orphan Grain Train.  These dresses always have a little pocket with a small stuffed animal in it.   Thank you to all of these ladies for their talent and making a little girl in need feel loved and wanted.  Thank you to Elaine MacIntosh for her help with the postage to send these packages.

---Cravin’ to  Craft  Ricki Bond - Our group is under the WOF which meets on Mondays from 9:30AM-2:00PM throughout year.  Our purpose is twofold: to create crafts and to enjoy fellowship with each other in the process.  Thanks to members of the congregation, we have many donated supplies to craft with and to make items to sell at our Holiday Bazaar which is the 1st Saturday in November. We rent tables to other vendors and include a bake sale and a delicious lunch for attendees.  This is our opportunity to meet guests from outside our congregation.  This event supports us financially so we can support WOF missions.  We invite anyone who loves to craft to join us or bring crafts from home for us to sell.  Please come and join us any Monday and bring your ideas.

We want to thank our Faith Family for the love, support and prayers for the WOF and for supporting all our endeavors.    Blessings,   Mary Ellen Martin   Chairman of Women of Faith
