SWFL Veterans Alliance Inc

The Robert L. Zore Foundation: The Robert L. Zore Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports the families of fallen police officers as well as active military and veterans in SWFL. One of their key projects is to  provide academic scholarships for students whose family member is a first responder or veteran or a student who desires to become a first responder in the field of criminal justice, law, public safety, or the academy. Quoted from Metro-Dade Memorial Page: Rest in peace Detective Zore. Yesterday, I visited your grave at Woodlawn Park South and those of your beloved parents. A handsome and brave young man taken too soon. You left an impression to be felt for generations to come. Both you and your wife raised a fine and upstanding daughter in Rosemary who started a foundation in your blessed and heroic name, an angel soaring higher each second. Several organization RLZ has supported this year such as Lee County Sheriff’s Memorial, Collier 100. Club, ( )

VFW Auxiliary 7721: The VFW Auxiliary is one of the nation’s oldest veterans’ service organizations and our members are the relatives of those who have served in overseas combat. One of their key projects is Voice of Democracy. More than 50,000 high school students from across the country enter to win a share of the $2.3 million in educational scholarships awarded through the Voice of Democracy audio-essay competition. Students compete by writing and recording a broadcast script on an annual patriotic theme.

The VFW established the Voice of Democracy program in 1947 to provide students grades 9-12 the opportunity to express themselves regarding democratic ideas and principles. The national first place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college, or vocational/technical school. (So let your children and grandchildren know.)

Another scholarship program encourages youthful minds to examine our nation's history and their own experiences in modern American society through our Patriot's Pen youth essay-writing contest for students’ 6th – 8th grade. (Check the display table for more info, or email )

SWFL VA: For the past 10 years, SWFL VA has supported local veteran groups and organization with such projects as Greatest Generation Breakfast, Stone Crab Festival exhibition where we showcased 10+ Veteran groups, Wreaths Across America, and wreaths at Naples oldest cemetery, Rosemary’s Cemetery. We served as co-host of a ready response resource for families in need after Ian. Through our Operation Christmas Spirit programs, we offer support for local veteran families through gift cards, Christmas Trees, children’s’ gifts, and live filming the Christmas Parade for the City of Naples Channel for those unable to see it in person. We were so pleased to be asked to be the July Mission of the Month and even more pleased to help showcase these two amazing support systems for our Veterans and law enforcement officers.
