How do you pray?
Where do you pray?
How often do you pray?
Who do you pray for?
In the reality of your prayer life, do these questions really, truly matter? Prayer DOES matter!! However, getting caught up in the minutia of it can cause us to recoil and not pray. We can so easily judge ourselves and our prayer life. Am I praying the right way? Am I praying where I should pray? Am I praying enough? Am I praying for the right people or for myself too much? Am I thanking Him enough? Forget all the questioning and have a simple conversation with Our Father! He yearns for us!! Do you think for one minute He does not know what you’re going through? He knows our every thought, He knows our struggles, He knows our triumphs, He knows the number of hairs on our head, and most importantly, He knows our hearts!! Who better to go to with our joys, sorrows, pain, suffering, questions, and concerns. There is NOTHING we cannot go to Him with. He will guide us, protect us and give us everything we need. Trust in Him. Talk to Him. “pray continually” 1 Thessalonians 5:17
It's the beginning of May as I am writing this. It’s the month of Mother’s Day. For me, May is the month of both my children’s births. My children are both adults now and so I step back to let them live their lives. I’m fortunate to have great relationships with each of them and so I know their triumphs, when they are struggling, when they are having joys, sorrows, pains, suffering, questions and concerns. I know this but I do not pry for I know that if they need me, I will be there and they know this, as well. However, I long for those conversations. I long to catch up with them because they are my children, no age will ever change that. My desire is to speak with them every day! This thought process gives me a clearer perspective about my personal relationship with Our Father, My Father, and my prayer life with Him. It is quite simple, yet we can so easily take it for granted. He is eagerly awaiting that conversation, that daily conversation, that conversation that lays our hearts out to Him.
What is heavy on your heart today? Take it to Our Father, He is eagerly awaiting that conversation!
I’m currently reading this book and I want to share these words from Breaking Emotional Barriers to Healing by Craig A Miller: “Jesus lived in the world but did not define His reality by the world. His reality is living in the infinite, unseen heavenly realm where nothing is impossible. In essence, when you believe like Jesus, you will live by faith, and you will pray believing the impossible is possible.”
“For no word from God will ever fail.” Luke 1:37
In closing, I’d like to suggest reading 1 Thessalonians, it’s a small book (only 6 pages in my Bible). Paul writes to encourage the new converts in their trials and to give assurance concerning the future of believers who die before Christ returns. This is Paul’s prayer to them and my prayer to you. “Now may our God and Father Himself and our Lord Jesus clear the way for us to come to you. May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and everyone else, just as ours does for you. May He strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all His holy ones.” Amen. (1 Thessalonians 3:11-13)
Peace in Christ,
